Erosions Caused by Glaciers, Water, and Wind.
Glaciers:
-Glacial erosion causes landforms such as glacial troughs, and pyramidal peaks.
- "Plucking is a form of glacial erosion restricted to the lifting and removal of blocks of bedrock already loosened by freeze–thaw activity."
-Glaciers pluck and abrade, plucking takes place by water entering cracks under the glacier, freezing, and breaking off pieces of rock that are then transported by the glacier.
-Abrasion cuts into the rock under the glacier, and smoothing and polishing the rock surface.
Wind:
-When top soil is removed due to wind
-Occurs in mostly dry areas, soil becomes less bound together, making it easier to break down and move.
-Partially responsible for sand dunes.
Water:
-Raindrops in dry areas cause "splash erosions", which move tiny particles of soil.
-Water picks up soil in streams, causing sheet erosion.
